Originally called “Iron Dad” because it was a Father’s Day only promotion, we developed the promotion into a year-round offer, which giving customers a chance to perform as a Benihana Chef for their own guests of friends and family.
I renamed the promotion, developed branding and designed the logo, and I worked with the Director of Marketing to develop a training procedure, a Gift Card and Presenter package, and a Certificate of Completion. We also developed print ads, check stuffers and the Be The Chef video, which ran on the in-house monitors in every Benihana location, as well as on the Benihana website. In addition to getting great reviews and a lot of PR hits, Be The Chef was ranked #4 in the Restaurant Business Magazine’s Top 50 Great Gift Ideas for 2014.
