Panama

Panama 4I recently spent 10 days in the steamy county of Panama, seeing friends and family and getting some great shots.

I also got the very special opportunity to join Panama Canal Pilot Jose Anonio Calvo on the bridge of the Silver Point, a cargo ship from the Philippines on it’s way to Texas, on a partial transit through the Panama Canal.

I got an in-depth look at the entire process of taking a ship through a Panama Canal lock, with a sparse two foot clearance on either side of the ship.

Panama 1I was also able to get these great shots on the transit, including following a Chilean training ship full of cadets through the Mira Flores lock; Check out the the great shots of cadets on he main mast over 100 feet above the deck below.

My sincere thanks to Canal Pilot Jose Antonio Calvo and the Captain and crew of the Silver Point for a truly great experience. Let me know what you think of the pix.
